English: TOURNAI —Facade and roof of the house located N.24 rue des Carliers - This house dates from the end of the 17th century. The four-bay façade is entirely covered with a whitewash. It consists of a ground floor in the Louis XIV style and a Tournai-style floor. The first style is characterised by the use of fitted stone for the framing of the openings, while the second is recognised by the alternating use of stone and brick (uprights and lintels).
On a fitted stone base, the ground floor opens onto three framed bays with common uprights. The verticality of the façade is counterbalanced by the accentuation of horizontality thanks to two continuous bands at the bay sills.
