DescriptionStranded mules on a mountain trail during the Uttarakhand Floods of 2013 as encountered by People for Animals during a rescue operation.jpg
English: Even after stranded people had been rescued, the authorities have left thousands of animals to fend for themselves on isolated pockets in the mountains surrounded by deadly landslides or treacherous currents. These animals were raised by humans and did not know how to fend for themselves once the disaster struck. This picture was taken many days after the event, just showing how people had left these animals without any hope. Mules helped carry construction material and supplies to these regions and once the calamity stuck we just abandoned them. Locals helped People for Animals to rescue stranded mules.
