Purpose of use |
To identify organization SLATE by one of its symbols, which illustrates the electoral orientation of SLATE: the asterisk suggests the marking of a ballot, and SLATE was engaged in campaigning for positions on the elected Associated Students of the University of California (ASUC); it also serves to distinguish it from other campus groups. There is commentary in the article about the logo itself as follows: "The organization SLATE is defunct, and has not existed since 1966." |
