Use in article ( WP:NFCC#7) | Pearl Reaves |
Purpose of use in article ( WP:NFCC#8) | for visual identification of the person in question, at the top of his/her biographical article |
Not replaceable with free media because ( WP:NFCC#1) |
Reaves died in 2000 and Farano died in 2001. Reaves stopped performing in the 1980s. |
Minimal use ( WP:NFCC#3) | It will only be used in the article about Pearl Reaves, which also covers the Paul Farano Trio. It is a low-resolution JPEG. |
Respect for commercial opportunities ( WP:NFCC#2) |
The same photo appears in a 1985 magazine article about Reaves. The version used here is a small, low-resolution JPEG. |
Other information | The subject of the photograph has been deceased since: 2000 There are several other photos of Pearl Reaves online, but this one shows her holding her guitar. Female performers who played guitar and sang lead with male backup musicians were rare in the 1950s. The photo also shows the Paul Farano Trio with whom she performed for decades. Farano was her husband. (Interracial marriages were also unusual in 1950, being illegal in literally half the states in the U.S.) |
