Le musée Guimet présente, jusqu’au 7 janvier 2013, dans la rotonde, une quarantaine d’œuvres de Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849), comprenant des peintures, des estampes et des dessins.

Cet artiste exceptionnel qui a transformé l'art de l'estampe au 19ème siècle et influencé les artistes occidentaux (japonisme) est connu du public pour ses représentations du Mont Fuji et de la grande vague bleue. On retrouve ces images cultes dans l'exposition mais on en découvre d'autres moins diffusées comme celle sur la photo ci-dessus.

Très peu éclairée pour des raisons de conservation et serrée dans les vitrines de la rotonde, cette petite exposition, où il est permis de photographier, n'est pas très bien présentée, elle est néanmoins un évènement pour les amateurs d'art asiatique.
