Carter and Paterson lorry driver needs a bit of luck because his nearside front tyre is bald. Carter and Paterson was founded in 1860 as a carrier and delivery company and was one of the first delivery companies to change over from horse power to steam lorries in 1904. They had their depot in
Goswell Road just north of the City of London. In 1933 they were taken over by the big four Railway Companies and in 1948 became part of
British Road Services. The modern delivery company
'Lynx' is a direct descendant of Carter Paterson through takeovers, nationalisation and buy outs over the years.
