The train is headed by one of the Churchward '4700' class 2-8-0s normally employed at night on fast freight trains, No. 4703 (built 3/22, withdrawn 5/64). The signals show the branching for trains towards Oxford by the loop connecting with the Avoiding Line from Didcot East Junction. |
