Summary

Made by myself (Adam Cuerden) for this article. May be freely used.

Why are there five beats in 4/4 time?

- I'm wondering the same thing - this is wrong - does anyone know the real beat?

- (jeff) - I think that the dotted quarter and eighth note should be a triplet ( http://hum.lss.wisc.edu/jazz/the.article.html). So the count should be something like (each character a beat of triplet, x being played, a . is a rest) 4/4 | x..x..x.xx.. |

Uhm, 8 beat charleston basic step is something like this: (lead)

| L R . L | . . . R |

follows are of course swapped, and hip-hop variations of charleston do:

| L R . L | . . R . |

- Er, I don't know that symbolism. I'll fix it if I'm told what to do. Adam Cuerden 12:40, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
