Description1967 AMC Ambassador 880 sedan US Postal Service right hand drive at Rambler Ranch 4of5.jpg |
English: 1967 AMC Ambassador 880 four-door sedan. Special government agency fleet order for the US Postal Service. This car has right-hand drive for use in rural mail delivery. Built by American Motors Corporation (AMC), the Ambassador line for the 1967 model year was completely restyled and became longer, lower, and wider on a 118-inch (2,997 mm) wheelbase. It was also one of few domestic cars available from the factory with steering on the right side. American Motors developed them for export markets where cars drive on the left (Australia, England, Japan, South Africa, etc.). Not all of the 3,768 units that were ordered for the postal service had right-hand drive, but they came with special heavy-duty fleet options such as rubber floor mats, upholstery, and even the delete of the rear seat.
Photographed at the Rambler Ranch collection (located at 36370 Forest Trail, Elizabeth, CO 80107) that was part of the 2021 American Motors Owners (AMO) convention held in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA. |
