Milad Zohrevand ( Persian: میلاد زهرهوند; 2002 - 2023) was an Iranian who was arrested in Malayer during the Mahsa Amini protests and executed on November 22, 2023. [1] He was an asphalt worker and his child was born while he was in detention. [2] According to the government-affiliated media, he was sentenced to death on the charge of murdering a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps named "Ali Nazari" during the 40th mourning of Mahsa Amini. On October 24, 2022, 40th mourning day of the death of Mahsa Amini, the students of Malayer University protested based on the call that had been announced in advance. [6] [7] According to his relatives, Zahravand was not among the protesters, but on that day he was present at the place where a member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps named "Ali Nazari" was killed. [8] [9] He was with several other members of his family near the premises of the 12 Malayer police station when a clash with the security forces took place. According to one of his relatives, "Milad was shot in the hand and was seriously injured. This IRGC member was also killed there." [10]
The Ansar al-Hussein Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Hamedan Province introduced Ali Nazari as a member of the intelligence-security staff of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Malayer. [11] [12]
His death sentence was confirmed on November 23, 2023 by the Supreme Court of Iran. [13]
