Sdkb: I saw your post over at
WP:REWARD, and decided I'd take a stab at getting this article up to publishable quality. I have a few initial thoughts:
As you can see, I've added some section headings and placeholder text, and drafted a lede to help get a general organizing principle for the article (which I assume should be in
summary style, unless you had other thoughts).
I'm not sure this is the article to go through the effects of unionization, since the topic of the article is about the process of forming and growing a union.
I think the history section should be narrowly focused on the history of union formation (i.e., strategies that were used prior to the development of named methods of union organization, such as the service and organizing models). It might also be combinable with a section that describes industrial vs. craft unions.

Sdkb: Any thoughts on my comments, particularly the second bullet point above? I'm also wondering whether the history section can just be folded into the section on types of unions (e.g., craft vs. industrial unionism), since there are a lot of sections on labor history spread throughout other articles on Wikipedia anyways.

Avoiding redundancy in articles is definitely key since we want to prevent any
forks, so I think you're on the right track. I looked over a few other articles in the topic area before proposing this one, since it seemed like a surprising gap. Glad to hear you've done likewise and are thinking through the scope carefully. {{u|Sdkb}}talk00:59, 16 July 2023 (UTC)reply
