The VYO was formed in Kobeliaky, Ukraine in 1991 [4] by Ukrainian guitarist Sergey Pidkaura and Ukrainian singer of Nigerian origin [5] Myroslav Kuvaldin. [1] [3] [6] [7]
In 1995 they won the third place at the all-Ukrainian song festival Chervona Ruta. [3] [6] [8] [9] [7]
In 1997 the band signed a contract with an art agency "Terytoriia A". They had been placed in rotation on the national television and reached the peak of their popularity. [2] [3] [7]
Since its establishment, the group was splitting and reuniting regularly until they announced an official disband in 2000. [3] [7] At that time Kuvaldin started a career of a TV host for the channel M1. [6] [8] [10]
On August 21, 2008 the band announced a reunion and started working on the next album "Ganja" that was released the same year and included older works from the period of 1995–1998. [3]
During the Euromaidan in 2013, The VYO supported protesters. [2]
On February 10, 2018 The VYO participated in the Ukrainian national semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2018. [7] [11]
