The Society for Cultural Interaction in East Asia [2] is a organization of East Asian universities and educational campuses to increase awareness [3] about the cultures and ethnic groups in East Asia, as well as increasing creative research activities perspectives. [3] As of 2022, the organization has 653 member universities. The organization also holds annual meetings every year. [4] [5] [6] [7] [8] The 14th of these meetings was held in May 2022 in Keimyung University regarding the post-Covid era. [9]
The organization is governed by a set of articles [10] which were adopted on June 27th 2009. Its current president, from May 2023, is Liu Yuzhen, of Nankai University's College of Foreign Languages. [1] [11]
The organization is controlled by an elected, or in some cases, an appointed President whom has responsibility for the operation of the Society overall. The President has a deputy, the Vice President, whom is charge of annual meetings if the president is absent.
The organization was originally founded as Institute for Cultural Interaction Studies (ICIS) in Kansai University in 2007. [12] [13]
