Kyle McDowell (born February 13, 1999) is a professional soccer player who plays as a Defender for USL League One club One Knoxville SC. [1] His football career began in England and Northern Ireland before continuing in the United States for his college career.
In 2016 and 2017, McDowell played for Portsmouth FC [2] [3] and also on the Northern Ireland U18 development team in 2017. [4] [5] In 2017-2018, he played for Ross County FC Development Team after signing a one-year deal. [6] [7] [8]
In February 2020, McDowell joined the Virginia Tech Hokies Soccer team as a midfielder [9] after playing for two seasons on the Ottawa Spirit Soccer team at Ottawa University in Surprise, AZ. [10] [11]
In 2018, he was named to the National Christian College Athletics Association ( NCCAA) All-America Third Team. [12] In 2019, he was named to the NCCAA United Soccer Coaches All-American Team. [13] In the 2020-2021 season, McDowell was named to the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) All-State Second Team [14], and in 2021 he was named to the All-State First Team. [15]
In December 2022, McDowell began his professional career signing with One Knoxville SC to join them for their 2023 USL League One Season. [16] [17] [18]
