Jamie Robert Anderson (born November 24, 1974). He is an accomplished performing saxophonist and instructor with a popular YouTube Channel ( https://www.youtube.com/@GetYourSaxTogether). He has worked with Incognito, the BBC Big Band, Frankie Valli, Chaka Khan, Joan Armatrading, Wet Wet Wet, The Temptations and The Four Tops, as well as many London West End Shows.

Biography

Anderson was born in Dunfermline, Scotland near Dollar in the Ochil Hills. His musical journey began on the clarinet at 9 years of age and got his first saxophone age 13. His studies took on new meaning when his mother took him to the FiFe Youth Jazz Orchestra, directed by Richard Michaels, who would become one of Jamie's first mentors.

Education

City University 1992-1995. First Class Honours Degree in Music, winning annual prize for Outstanding Overall Achievement. Subjects included performance, sound recording, composition, acoustics, electronic music and world music.

Guildhall School Of Music 1995-1996. Post Graduate Diploma in Jazz And Studio Music. Finalist of Perrier Young Jazz Musician Of The Year.

Jamie played with Chaka Khan Lovebox Festival 2012 in front of 20,000 people. Later a live stream broadcast with Joan Armatrading. He currently performs all Wet Wet Wet's gigs. Recent highlights include supporting slots for Phil Collins and Rod Stewart. For many years and two albums with Incognito, a classic horn led band, with whom he travelled the whole globe, including the Blue Note Tokyo, Seoul Korea, Ronnie Scott’s, Indonesia, the USA, Europe and Africa. He wrote and composed horn arrangements for Incognito. He performed full arena tours with both The Temptations and The Four Tops. He performed on the UK Arena tour, including the Albert Hall with Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. Jamie was a chair holder for the entire nine year West End run of Jersey Boys, playing soprano, alto, flute and clarinet. Jamie can be heard on the Platinum selling Pop Idols album, with Will Young and Gareth Gates and on live shows and TV appearances. For 6 years he played with Maroon Town ska band, and toured all over the UK and the world. In collaboration with the British Council the band toured Brazil, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Ukraine, India, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Indonesia as ambassadors for multi cultural Britain.

He has played more than a thousand events with various bands. he has travelled from Bali to Barcelona, from Dubai to Dublin, performing for companies such as Microsoft and Toyota. Collaborations with celebrities have been frequent, including Jeremy Beadle, Paul Young, Jack Dee, The Four Tops and Whitney Houston. With the National Youth Jazz Orchestra his five year stint included seasons at Ronnie Scott’s, three albums and two tours of Portugal. He wrote all the arrangements for Englebert Humperdink's show at London’s Palladium,and performed with him on the BBC’s Hall Of Fame. In his freelance career he has worked with Saxtet, National Youth Jazz Orchestra, Jane McDonald, Elkie Brooks, James Taylor Quartet (JTQ), Nick Of Time, The BBC Big Band, The Ronnie Scott’s Big Band, Tim Deluxe, Sax Appeal, Guy Barker, Rick Astley, Curtis Stigers, Gillespianna, The Pasadena Roof Orchestra and his own group, Jamie Anderson’s Dogcatchers Trio, with Gene Calderazzo.

Teaching

Jamie has extensive teaching experience with young and mature players of all skill levels and from all over the globe. His Get Your Sax Together YouTube channel has more than 6.5 million views and more than 66,000 subscribers. Three online courses have reached widespread acclaim: Total Tome Mastery, Improvisational Mastery and Phrase Like A Pro.
