Huay-Pix is a hamlet in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located in its southern end, near the city of Chetumal.
It is located next to Laguna Milagros, one of the multiple lagoons that are located in the extreme south of Quintana Roo and that form a large lagoon system next to Laguna de Bacalar and the Hondo River. Laguna Milagros is famous for its beauty [2] and for being an important tourist destination in the region, where water sports are practiced. The main activity of the population is tourism, with multiple restaurants dedicated mainly to seafood, as well as tourist services and walks around the lagoon.
The geographical coordinates of Huay-Pix are 18°31'04″N 88°25'34″W and it is located at an altitude of 10 meters above sea level. Highway 186 connects it to the east with the state capital, the city of Chetumal, approximately 15 kilometers away. This same highway leads west to Bacalar, which is located 10 kilometres northwest. The urban area is located between the highway and the shore of Laguna Milagros. In addition, Huay Pix is located about ten kilometers north of the Hondo River that marks the border between Mexico and Belize.
According to the results of the Population and Housing Census carried out in 2010 by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography , Huay-Pix has a total population of 1,649 inhabitants, of which 827 are men and 822 women. [1]
The state of Quintana Roo is full of great natural beauties, cenotes, beaches and lagoons, but among all the latter, undoubtedly the most beautiful is Laguna Milagros, located very close to Chetumal.
