Dr. Martin Luther King Academic Middle School, commonly referred to as MLK is an American Middle School in San Francisco, California. [1] The current campus is currently located in Portola at 350 Girard Street. [2] [3] The school is named after civil rights activist Martin Luther King Jr. [4] [5]

Philosophy

The philosophy of the institution is to "cooperate, participate, communicate, work, and learn together in order to produce a harmonious, productive, pluralistic society of lifelong learners." Their self-proclaimed mission is to "ensure that all students realize their potential in academic, creative, physical, and social endeavors." They claim that to accomplish this through the combined efforts of our students, families, staff, school district, and community. [6]

Attributes

The school draws in students from all racial/ethnic groups due to it's multicultural atmosphere. All students receive equitable access. the school's focus is on studies that value relationships between staff and students, students and their peers, and the student-community.
