Consignment-based conformity assessment

CBCA) is a process implemented to ensure that a
consignment to be shipped complies with the relevant national or
international standards or other technical regulations.
This process is instituted by some countries, and can be outsourced to third parties accredited conformity assessment bodies (CAB). This process is compliant with the World Trade Organisation ( Technical Barriers to Trade Agreement and Agreement on Pre-shipment Inspection) and World Customs Organisation regulations. The TIC Council provides guidelines to authorities to establish this type of program.
CBCA usually consist of pre-shipment inspections, which include the review of conformity documentation, physical or remote visual inspection. The CBCA gives assurance to the exporter and importers that the goods will be accepted by competent authorities at the borders and facilitate customs clearance.

Consignment-based conformity assessment
