Ali Al-Omari (( Arabic: علي العمري) born; 11 February 1973) is a Saudi Islamic academic and preacher with a PhD in Islamic jurisprudence and President of Makkah Open University. ^[1] Al-Omari's name was associated with the moderate 4shbab channel, which has rational discourse directed at Saudi youth. ^[2] Al-Omari has written more than 70 books and produced more than 20 television programmes. He was awarded the title of Arab Tourism Ambassador for the year 2012 for his program “Diary of a Tourist”.He was chosen as a goodwill ambassador for youth and humanity at the United Nations. The Saudi authorities have arrested him since 9 September 2017. ^[2]

Early life

He was born in the city of Jeddah, and he is from the Al-Makhwah region in the south of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His father is: Hamza bin Ahmed Al-Alwani Al-Omari.
