On March 5, 2024, a Cessna 208B Grand Caravan crashed at Katchungu-Tchambogo Airstrip, Democratic Republic of the Congo. It crashed shortly after landing at the airstrip.

Aircraft

The aircraft was a 10 year old Cessna 208B Grand Caravan, its Serial Number was 208B-5118 and its registration was TY-ABT.

Accident

At around noon, the Cessna 208B Grand Caravan took off from Bukavu-Kamenbe Airport, headed for Katchungu-Tchambogo Airstrip. It had an uneventful flight until it attempted to land on the airstrip. When it attempted to land, it lost control, struck a house, and then finally hit an earthen mound and then it crashed, it crashed on its right wing and burst into flames.

Crew/Occupants

There were 2 occupants onboard the plane, both were crew, one was the first officer who survived the crash. The other one was the pilot, who is reported to have died.
