The White House Uganda is an architectural and business landmark in Uganda, modeled after the White House in Washington, D.C. Location
The Ugandan White House is Located in Akright City along the Entebbe–Kampala Expressway and is bordered by Namugongo Road to the north, the community of Bwebajja and Kampala–Entebbe Road to the east, Namulanda to the southeast, Palm Valley Golf and Country Club to the south, and the community of Sekiwunga. The coordinates of the neighborhood are:0°10'21.0"N, 32°31'06.0"E (Latitude:0.172504; Longitude:32.518333). [2] [6] [3]
The neighborhood is located about 21 kilometres (13 mi), northeast of the town of Entebbe, the nearest large town. [7] This is approximately 20 kilometres (12 mi), southwest of Kampala, the capital and largest city in the country. [8]
History
The project, inspired by the American presidential residence, was designed to serve both cultural and practical business purposes. [9] The construction of The White House Uganda represents a notable development in the country's architectural and business sectors. [10] It was intended to symbolize the modern aspirations of Ugandan entrepreneurship and economic growth. Once completed, the building became the central office for Kiggundu's business operations.
