[1] feature film and The Goat and Her Three Kids (2019) [2] short film which both premiered at Transilvania International Film Festival.

As an actor he is a SAG-AFTRA member known for his work on Rage(2021) [3], Luca(2021) and Radical (2016) [4].

Directorial Debut

Victor Canache’s debut feature The Goat and Her Three Kids / Capra cu trei iezi had its world premiere in the Official Competition at the 21st edition of the Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF) [5] where it won The Audience Award for the most popular Romanian film [6].

The film is based on a famous children's tale by Romanian classic writer Ion Creangă (1837-1889) [7], that endured as one of the best-known local folk tales, echoing Brothers Grimm’s The Wolf and the Seven Young Goats, but much darker and devoid of a happy ending. This faithful screen adaptation captures the true nature of the famed bedtime story and goes beyond the bucolic setting and its fable-like appearance, delivering a brutal revenge thriller that’s bound for cult status and Halloween celebrations [8].

Maia Morgenstern, who starred in Mel Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ and Ulysses’ Gaze by Theo Angelopoulos, plays the lead [7].

The Goat and Her Three Kids produced by Luana Georgiţă - Casa de Filme Nouă was released by Transilvania Film on 28 October 2022 and cashed in 124,412 EUR / 610,913 RON in its opening weekend thus raising the number of domestic films in weekly Top 10 in Romania to three, which is an unprecedented success [7]. The film ended the year in 23rd place (out of 166) [9], with 131.805 reported admissions [10].

In 2022, The Goat and Her Three Kids was the 2nd most GOOGLED movie title in Romania (#3 Black Adam; #4 Thor love and thunder) [11].

After its successful run in cinemas, The Goat with Three Kids was released on Netflix in March 2023, immediately becoming the most-watched feature on the platform in Romania, maintaining it position 8 day as no.1 and four weeks in the top 10 [12].

In 2023, the film had its US premiere being screened in multiple cities around the states, including Chicago IL, Denver Co, San Francisco CA, Los Angeles CA, Santa Fe NM, Albuquerque NM, Atlanta GA, Washington DC, Orlando FL, Miami FL, Boston MA [13], Canton OH [14] and New York NY [15] as part of Making Waves Film Festival [8].

The Goat and Her Three Kids was also screened in France at Marche du Film Cannes [16] and was selected for the 2023 programs of Romanian Film Festival in Norway [17] and Israel [18]. The film was also screened in Bulgaria at It’s Alive Film Festival [19] and in Moldavia at the 9th edition of ZFR [20].

The film was also nominated for 2 categories at the 2023 edition of the Gopo Awards [21] [22], the Romanian equivalent of the Spain's Goya Awards or the France's César Awards and won the Special Award for the Producer of the Year at Independent Producers Indie Film Festival (IPIFF) [23]

Sophomore Film

Now based in Bucharest, Canache is working on a screenplay in English for his next feature film which will be based on the Legend of Manoli, known in some countries as The Walled-Up Wife, about the master-builder who is told by God to sanctify his work by sacrificing the first woman that shows up at the the construction site, and that happens to be his wife. [4]

Acting Years

Victor Canache graduated from Hyperion University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre and continued his acting studies at the Aaron Speiser Acting Studio in Los Angeles. [5]

As an actor and stuntman, Canache has forged his career in the US, working in front of the camera on films including the Coen brothers Hail Caesar, Roy de Silva’s Tom Pachayo and Randall Yarborough’s Radical [4].
