Vera Caine is a Canadian academic in the healthcare field whose research has focused on HIV. She is known for her work using narrative inquiry, community-based research, and participatory action research.

During her graduate studies, Caine used visual narrative inquiry to explore the experiences of Indigenous women living with HIV.

Caine work with the University of Alberta for 14 years. From 2014 to 2019, Caine was a New Investigator with the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), after which she served as the President of the Canadian Association of Nurses in HIV/AIDS Care (CANAC) until 2021. In May 2022, Caine joined the University of Victoria's School of Nursing. As of 2024, she serves as the Vice Chair for the CIHR HIV/AIDS and STBBI Research Advisory Committee (CHASRAC). Caine also established and co-facilitated the Refugee Health Coalition (RHC) in Edmonton with Astrid Velasquez. This project led to the establishment of the New Canadians Health Centre in Edmonton, of which Caine serves on the board. [1]
