Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit

Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS) is a flagship global investors' summit held by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in Uttar Pradesh, India. The summit is aimed towards bringing business leaders, policy makers, academia, think-tanks, political & government leadership nationally and internationally to showcase and explore business opportunities in Uttar Pradesh. The Summit takes place in the state capital, Lucknow. The summit is convened by the Chief minister of Uttar Pradesh.

2018 Summit

The first Uttar Pradesh Global Investor Summit was held on 21-22 February, 2018 . The event was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, convened by Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath, and attended by over 5,000 delegates including industry leaders from India, delegates from partner countries( Mauritius, Japan, Netherlands, Finland, Czech Republic, Thailand and Slovakia), chief ministers, union ministers, policy makers and academicians. Indian business leaders Gautam Adani, Mukesh Ambani, Subhash Chandra, Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Anand Mahindra,and Kumar Mangalam Birla were guest note speakers. The summit focused on the theme of "Investment Opportunities in Uttar Pradesh" and showcasing the potential in sectors such as Agro & Food Processing, Electric Mobility, Defense & Aerospace Manufacturing, IT & Electronics Manufacturing, Tourism & Film, and Renewable Energy. 2023 Summit

Uttar Pradesh Global Investors Summit (UPGIS 2023) was scheduled from 10 to 12 February 2023 in Lucknow. UPGIS 2023, as per government sources, sets aspiration target of making the State a USD 1 Trillion economy in 5 years. [2] Some MoUs announced were:

  • Aditya Birla Group to invest ₹25,000 crore(3 billion USD, per exchange rate Feb, 2023) in a variety of industries, including cement, metals, chemicals, financial services, and renewable energy. [3]
  • IKEA to invest ₹4,000 crore(485 million USD, per exchange rate Feb, 2023) for setting up its retail stores and malls. [4]
  • Serneke to invest ₹10,000 crore(1.2 billion USD, per exchange rate Feb, 2023) in film City Project in the state. [5]
  • Boson Energy to invest ₹1,000 crore (121 million USD, per exchange rate Feb, 2023)in waste to energy project. [6]
  • Hinduja group to invest ₹1,000 (121 million USD, per exchange rate Feb, 2023) crore in EV manufacturing plant. [7]
