The Tri City Speedway was a 1/2 mile dirt track located in High Point, North Carolina; built by brother Bill Blair and Bob Blair. According to an article from Speed Age (Aug 1947 vol. 1 no. 4) the surface had been scarified and "many tons of used motor oil had been sprayed into the dirt" to make the track dustless. The inaugural race, the Piedmont Championship, took place June 29, 1947 with Fonty Flock on the pole with Jimmie Lewallen coming in for a controversial win following a yellow flag condition. [1]

The track also hosted two NASCAR Grand National races. A 200 lap race held on June 26, 1953 (race 1953-17) with Herb Thomas winning, and another 200 lap race on November 7, 1955 (race 1955-01) with Lee Petty taking the win.[ citation needed]

A historical marker was placed near the site of the original track on July 18, 2016 at the intersection of Skeet Club Road and Lumsden Lane. [2]
