Thierry Deleruyelle is a French composer, conductor and percussionist, born August 9, 1983 in Arras (France).
Thierry Deleruyelle received his musical training at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris where he studied Percussion, Harmony, Counterpoint and Fugue [1]. He is particularly known for his works for concert band and brass band for which he writes on commission. Since 2007, Thierry Deleruyelle's music is published and distributed exclusively by De Haske Publications [2], part of Hal Leonard Corporation, the world's leading publisher [3].
In 2015, Thierry Deleruyelle was commissioned to compose the European Brass Band Championships set piece [4] [5] (Fraternity), his first major work written for Brass Band. The work was a worldwide success from the outset, and has been one of the most frequently performed ever since [6]. Thierry Deleruyelle became the first French composer to compose the set piece for the European competition, as well as the set piece for the British Open 2016 [7] (Fraternity) and the British Open 2017 [8] (Sand and Stars). He was awarded by an international jury "Best composer of the Year" in 2016 [9], 2017 [10] and 2023 [11] at the 4barsrest awards. On July 14, 2023, Majesty composed by Thierry Deleruyelle has been performed at the opening of the national military parade on the Champs-Elysées in front of French President Emmanuel Macron [12] by an international military band [13].
Thierry Deleruyelle's works are performed worldwide and enjoy international recognition.
