The Imperial Sound is an American soul-pop band based out of Chicago, Illinois. Formed in 2016 by Kenn Goodman and Rick Mosher of New Duncan Imperials and The Service, The Imperial Sound blends 1970s AM radio with classic Chicago soul.
The band’s debut full-length album, The New AM, was recorded at Kingsize Sound Labs (of Wilco’s Summerteeth and Mermaid Avenue) and mixed by record producer John Fields. Guests on the album include Peter Himmelman, Poi Dog Pondering's Dag Juhlin, and singers Kelly Hogan and Nora O'Connor.
