“Territorial Pissings” is a song by the American rock band Nirvana from their 1991 album Nevermind.

from the album Nevermind | |
Released | September 24, 1991 | .
Studio | Sound City (Van Nuys) • Smart |
Genre | Rock |
Length | 2:22 |
Songwriter(s) | Kurt Cobain, Dave Grohl, Krist Novoselic |
Producer(s) | Butch Vig |
The song’s intro features a rare occasion, Krist Novoselic singing. This would never happen again.
The song was recorded in almost one take, unlike Lithium. [1] Each member wore their favorite band on a t-shirt, Kurt wore his homemade Flipper t-shirt, Grohl wore a Melvins t-shirt and Novoselic wore a L7 t-shirt. [2]
The opening of the song is lifted from a sixties song called Get Together [3]
Far Out Magazine said it was a “punk-tinged rave-up”. [4] Matthew Furniss called it a "A sneaky peak into Nirvana's punk origins." [5] John D. Luerssen said it "found Kurt projecting his support of feminist viewpoints and singing out about paranoia and alienation." [6]
