TF Value-Mart is a Malaysian retail company that operates a chain of hypermarkets in Malaysia, and is currently headquartered in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. It currently operates 41 stores, primarily in northern Malaysia.
TF Value-Mart was founded in 1957, with the first two letters of the name being a shortened version of “Tung Fatt” in Cantonese, which translates to “prosper together”. [1] The company finally began operations in 1998 when the Low family purchased two abandoned theatres in Bentong, converting one into a warehouse, with the other being converted into the first TF Value-Mart location.
Throughout the 2000's, the company began expanding within Pahang, and outside of it, with TF Value-Mart opening it's first store outside in Tanjung Malim, Perak, in 2005.
In 2016, the Low family sold the company to Singapore-based private equity firm KV Asia Capital Pte Ltd. In December 2020, following a management buyout financed by British investment firm Intermediate Capital Group, the company now owns a stake in the company through Asia Fund IV. [1]
