Swaroopinii Narayan, also known as Aarohi Narayan is an Indian actress, who has worked predominantly in the Kannada movie industry. She received widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal of Sindhu Ponnappa in the 2014 Kannada superhit Drishya. [1]
Swaroopinii Narayan was born to a Kannada-speaking family in Kolar, Karnataka. Growing up, Swaroopinii had always been interested in various arts like singing [2] and performing, and went on to study classical music. A studious person, Swaroopinii pursued her Bachelor of Business management in Finance, before eventually realizing her passion for acting. She was also an active participant of events at the Suchitra Film Society, which enlightened her as she began her acting journey. Swaroopinii was inspired by the legendary actors like Dr. Rajkumar and Audrey Hepburn, besides Prabhu Deva, Trisha Krishnan. [3]
Swaroopinii made her Kannada film debut with the superhit flick Drishya directed by veteran P. Vasu, sharing screen space with Crazy Star Ravichandran (Kannada actor). Following the success of Drishya, Swaroopinii went on to play a key role in Akash Srivatsa's thriller Shivaji Surathkal (2020), where she acted alongside Ramesh Arvind. Her performance received positive reviews, and won her a nomination for the Best supporting actress at the 67th Filmfare Awards South. [4] The same year, Swaroopinii played the female lead in Karthik Saragur's Bheemasena Nalamaharaja [5], which had its direct premiere on Amazon Prime Video, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. [6] [7] The film, which was produced by Rakshit Shetty's Paramvah Studios won her a Best actress nomination at the 67th Filmfare Awards South. In 2021, Swaroopinii returned to play her debut film role Sindhu Ponnappa in Drishya 2, [8] [9](the sequel to the 2014 flick Drishya) which won her good reviews for her performance. She went on to win the Best Supporting actress award for Drishya 2 at SIIMA 2022. [10] [11] Swaroopinii made a cameo appearance in the 2024 rural comedy entertainer Moorane Krishnappa [12], and is currently filming for a Kannada - Telugu bilingual, making her foray into Tollywood. Swaroopinii also has a number of promising projects lined up in Tamil and Malayalam.
