The Sonangol Building (Portuguese: Edifício Sonangol) is a 22-story postmodern office tower in the capital of the African country of Angola, the city of Luanda, which is an emblematic symbol in the reconstruction of Luanda, after 27 years of civil war. It is the headquarters of the state oil company Sonangol Group, which also oversees the area surrounding the building. It is reinforced with steel and concrete and covered with glass, it is a high-rise building whose construction began at the end of 2004 and was officially inaugurated in June 2008 with 95.5 meters at the edge of the roof. The building is known as the largest building in the Luanda area and Angola. The design was carried out by a South Korean architecture studio. The construction was in the hands of the Portuguese company Soares da Costa. It is located on Rua Rainha Ginga, in the Baixa neighborhood of Luanda. The total construction costs totaled approximately $90 million, according to the Ministry of Business in Angola. [1]
