Shiladitya Chetia (1 March 1980 – 18 June 2024) was a senior Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the 2009 batch, serving in the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. Chetia was found dead on 18 June 2024 in Guwahati reportedly due to suicide.
Chetia was born in 1980 in Assam, India. He pursued his early education in Assam and later graduated with a degree in Political Science.
Chetia joined the Indian Police Service in 2009, he served in the Assam-Meghalaya cadre. [2]
Throughout his career, he held various significant positions within the Assam Police Department.
Notably, he served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Nalbari district, Tinsukia district, Sonitpur district, Kokrajhar district and Barpeta district. [3]
He was later promoted to Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police. Chetia had also served as commandant of the 4th Assam Police Battalion. [4]
In 2024, he was serving as the Secretary Home and Political to Assam Government. [5] [6]
