Rui Carruço Lisboa, 19 January 1976 initially pursued an academic life deeply rooted in exact sciences until he merged this passion with Art, particularly in painting. From a young age, he explored art as a self-taught individual, but it was in 1998 that he began approaching it in a more structured manner. In 2000, he studied drawing at the National Society of Fine Arts, followed by engraving at the Portuguese Engravers Cooperative in 2003. In 2005, journeyed to Italy to explore renaissance techniques at the Angel Academy of Arts in Florence. In 2013, he co-founded the Atelier Internacional de Belas Artes, and more recently, in 2022, he released "Sombras da Arte" his debut novel inspired by his artistic journey.
Rui Carruço's artistic journey is marked by significant recognitions and achievements. Throughout his path, he has received numerous awards and distinctions that have highlighted the quality and originality of his work. Additionally, he has had the opportunity to hold several solo and group exhibitions in various parts of the world, enabling him to share his creations with a global audience. These experiences have not only expanded his creative expression but also strengthened his connection with diverse audiences and enriched his artistic practice. His artistic production is a celebration of diversity in contemporary painting, transcending the boundaries between abstract and figurative art. By exploring the intersection of these two styles, he creates a unique visual narrative that challenges the viewer's perception.

In his art, he has been integrating vertical cuts into compositions, using geometry subtly and expressively. This approach aims to provide structure and rhythm to the images, enhancing the visual experience with a dynamic dimension in the works. The themes he typically explores are varied. He reinterprets still lifes with varied color palettes and innovative compositions. He also ventures into representations of the human figure, exploring the complexities of their emotions and identities. Furthermore, he pays homage to revered masters of painting, offering a contemporary perspective to their iconic works.
