Reisha Perlmutter is an American contemporary artist known for her hyper realistic paintings that focus on the representation of the human body in natural settings. [1] Her paintings have been exhibited in art galleries, fairs, and museums in the United States, Canada, and Europe. [1] [2]
Perlmutter was born on May 21, 1990, in Naples, Flordia, to an American nutritionist, David Perlmutter. [1] [3] [4]
Following her early education in 2008, Perlmutter studied painting and Latin American Studies at Bates College until 2010. She then went to the School of Art Institute of Chicago, where she received a bachelor of fine arts in 2012. In the following year, Perlmutter attended the New York Academy of Art and acquired a master of art in 2015. [1]
In addition, she studied art at Studio Escalier in Paris, France, and attended the International School of Drawing and Painting in Umbria, Italy, as a summer resident. [4]
Perlmutter has been a contemporary artist since 2012. After the School of Art Institute of Chicago, she traveled to different cities in Europe, Mexico, and the United States, where she was engaged in free dives and photography. These underwater photographs later served as a basis for most of the underwater paintings of Perlmutter. Her paintings involved a representation of her subjects, combined with underwater fluid impressions, lightning, and shadows. Through her paintings, Perlmutter portrays the connection of humans with nature. [4] [2]
In 2023, she worked with Kerry Washington to photograph and paint the cover for the memoir Thicker Than Water. [5] [6] [7]
Perlmutter's art style combines hyperrealism with brushwork and colors. By merging the contrast of light and shadow with the transparency of water, she depicts details to her subjects. With this combination of realism and artistic expression, Perlmutter shows the relationship between humans and nature. [8] [9] [10]
Her paintings have been a part of several exhibitions in art museums, fairs, galleries, and institutes in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Miami, Naples, and Fort Worth. She also exhibited her paintings internationally in Toronto, Munich, and Barcelona. [4] [11]
