Dr. Purushottamrao Mansaram Dekate (3rd April 1914 – 18th September 1996) was an Indian politician, veterinarian, freedom fighter, and social activist who served as a Cabinet Minister and Member of the Legislative Assembly for the Government of Maharashtra, India. He was deeply committed to the welfare of farmers, workers, and marginalized communities throughout his life.
Dr. Dekate graduated in Veterinary Science from Bihar Veterinary College, Patna, in 1939. He served in the Civil Veterinary Department of the erstwhile Central Provinces and Berar for three years. However, inspired by Mahatma Gandhi's call, he resigned in 1942 to participate in the Quit India Movement as part of India's independence struggle.
Dr. Dekate participated in the Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti Morcha in 1954 and the Goa Satyagraha in 1955. He founded the Lok Sewa Shikshan Sanstha in Sirsi, Nagpur district, in 1960, establishing the Vasantrao Naik Agriculture School to uplift rural communities. He also established a school in a tribal area in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra.

Dr. Dekate was married to Mrs. Pramilabai Dekate, and they had two daughters: Dr. Smita Gupte and Dr. Jyoti Shyam Padaley. He passed away on 18th September 1996.
