Yunah was born on January 15, 2004, [2] in Chungju, Chungcheongbuk-do. She has a brother who is younger than her by three years (born in 2007). Her mom is a gourmet. [3] Yunah graduated from Chungju Geumneung Elementary School and Chungju Buk Girls’ Middle School. [4]
Yunah trained at Stardium Entertainment on January 1, 2018, and stayed until May 31, 2019. [5] In 2019, Yunah moved to Source Music as a trainee and stayed until 2021. Based on her internship period at Source Music, many fans predict that Yunah practiced with Le Sserafim members. [6] On June 1, 2023, JTBC and Belift Lab announced that they had begun filming for the new survival program R U Next?, which aims to create the agency's next global girl group. [7] From June 30 to September 1, 2023, Yunah became a contestant on R U Next? as a trainee of Belift Lab and also the contestant with the longest training period (5 years). ILLIT rose to fame with the success of their following singles "Magnetic" and "Lucky Girl Syndrome". [18] Their first extended play (EP) "Super Real Me" was the first best-selling Rookie Group on the Circle Chart in 2024 (until April 30) with 672,020 copies. [19]
In the Korean Business Research Institute's monthly "Girl Group Member Brand Reputation Rankings", Yunah placed 10th in April [20] [21], and 7th in the May [22] [23] issue.
On March 14, 2024, Acne Studios presented the SS24 campaign starring the K-pop girl group ILLIT. The campaign captured the five-member girl group Yunah, Minju, Wonhee, Moka, and Iroha in a soft-focused dreamy setting showcasing the latest key garments and accessories from the SS24 collection. On March 28th 2024, Yunah with Illit was selected as the new Y Brand model of KT Y. [28] On May 1 2024, Yunah became the new ambassador for Bioderma and appeared in a promotional campaign for their Photoderm Aqua Fluid and Sebium H2O.
