Nash Hutmacher (born May 15, 2001) is an American football defensive tackle for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. ^[1] He also plays for the Nebraska Cornhuskers wrestling team. ^[2]

Hutmacher was born on May 15, 2001 in Oacoma, South Dakota to parents Joe and Laura. Hutmacher attended Chamberlain High School in Chamberlain, South Dakota ^[3], and was a standout three sport athlete. He lettered in Wrestling, football, and Track and field. Hutmacher had been a gifted wrestler ever since he was young. He began practicing with his high school varsity team when he was only in Sixth grade, and had a combined record of 166-0 in his entire high school wrestling career, pinning his last 73 opponents. During his high school football career, Hutmacher played offensive and defensive line, as well as Running back. Hutmacher set several school records, finishing with 269 career tackles, 63 tackles for loss and 13 sacks. As a senior, Hutmacher had 88 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and four sacks. As a junior, he totaled 105 tackles, with 11 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 10 forced fumbles and four fumble recoveries. He also saw limited action at running back, scoring three touchdowns on nine carries. As a highschool football player, Hutmacher received offers from various programs, including Wisconsin, Iowa State, and Missouri. ^[4] But he would eventually commit to Nebraska in June of 2019 ^[5]. In addition to being a three-time all-state football player, Hutmacher was also a four-time state champion in wrestling, the first in state history for his weight class, and a two-time state champion in track and field. He was inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2020. ^[6]

As a true freshman at Nebraska in 2020. Hutmacher saw limited playing time, only playing in one game, which was the season finale at Rutgers. ^[7]

Hutmacher played in 11 games in 2021, appearing on both defense and special teams. He provided valuable depth on the defensive line over five games, but he did not record a tackle.

Hutmacher played in all 12 games with two starts in 2022. He posted 15 tackles and 0.5 tackles for loss on the season. Hutmacher made his first career start against Northwestern and then recorded his first career tackle the next week against North Dakota. He had two tackles against No. 6 Oklahoma and one tackle against Indiana. Hutmacher posted his first career solo tackle at Purdue and had two tackles against No. 17 Illinois. He recorded one solo tackle against Minnesota and had two tackles at No. 3 Michigan. He started against Wisconsin and had four tackles with his first career tackle for loss. In the season-ending win at Iowa, Hutmacher recorded one tackle.

Nash Hutmacher started all 12 games as a junior. As a nose tackle, Hutmacher ranked third in sacks on the team, and earned a honorable-mention All-Big Ten selection, he wore the No. 0 as one of 10 Huskers to earn a single-digit number in a team vote selecting him as one of Nebraska's "toughest" players.
