A multi-resolution histogram of an image is a sequence of histograms of the image pixel intensities at successively lower spatial resolutions. [1] Each histogram has the same number of bins (one for each possible pixel intensity value) and the same bin count sum (since each image has the same dimensions, but low spatial resolution). multi-resolution histograms are a useful extension to histograms in image recognition, and image texture classification. [2]
