Mehran Tebyani [1] is the first and only Iranian conductor with a doctoral degree who graduated from a university in orchestral conducting. He is an Iranian American conductor, composer, pianist, music educator, author, and lecturer known for his contributions to music.
Tebyani [1] [2] completed his Bachelor of Music in Classical Composition and Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting at California State University, Northridge. [3]Additionally, he furthered his academic journey by obtaining a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University. [4]
At the age of 22, Tebyani founded the Eshragh Chamber Orchestra and Chorus in Iran, serving as its music director and leading numerous performances despite the challenging cultural environment. Later, he directed the Music Department at the Baha'i Institute for Higher Education in Iran, where he taught composition and conducted choir ensembles.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2010, Tebyani established the Beverly Hills Conservatory and initiated the New Directions Composers’ Symphony Orchestra and Double Choir at CSUN University. As the Principal Music Director of the Beverly Hills Philharmonic Orchestra, [1] [5]he has contributed to the local musical culture through various performances and educational initiatives.
Tebyani's compositions often incorporate traditional Iranian musical elements into classical frameworks, creating a unique fusion that reflects his cultural heritage. He has been instrumental in documenting and integrating Iranian musical motifs and scalar systems into his works, making them more accessible to a broader audience.

Tebyani has been a regular contributor to KIRN 670 [5] AM Radio's "Music; Yesterday and Today," where he provides music appreciation analyses and insights. He has also participated in various seminars and conferences, [2] [7] [8] [9]sharing his expertise on music and its role in cultural and educational contexts.
