Mbaziira Tonny (Born 03 March 1987) is a renowned award winning Ugandan Disc Jockey, celebrated Radio Personality and Producer from Masaka District in Uganda. ^[1] He was born to the late Mr Ssenyonga David and the late Mrs Nakimbugwe Madrine of Bugabira village the current Masaka City. Mbaziira Tonny and his longtime deejaying partner Ssuuna Ben ^[2] are renowned for their unique local sound, "Endongo Y'ebinyaanya" which has gained significant popularity among music fans in Uganda and is now making waves internationally. ^[3]

Early life and education

Mbaziira started his elementary education at St. Mary's Katikamu primary school and completed his primary education in 1998 with a primary leaving certificate from Uganda National Examinations Board. ^[4]He later joined Masaka Academy Secondary School where he completed his ordinary and advanced certificates of education. Even during school time, Mbaziira always loved music and other entertainment activities which he later chose as his career after education. In 2012, he completed a bachelor's degree in mass communication from Kampala University. ^[5]

Career

In 2008, Mbaziira Tonny made his debut radio presentation at 93FM Radio Equator in Masaka ^[6]. Later in 2009, he joined 98.8/95.5 Radio Buddu FM where he worked as a radio presenter, ^[7] producer and a Disc Jockey up to 2019. He joined 103.3 Radio 4 FM in Kampala in 2019. ^[8]

In June, 2019 he joined Central Broadcasting Services (CBS) 89.2 FM where he works as a radio presenter and a radio Disc Jockey. ^[9]  He  hosts Uganda's most popular lunchtime show, "Township Tunes" with Sofia Tebi. He also hosts a gigantic late night drive show "Kross Faya Friday" ^[10]. Additionally, he hosts another prominent show "Sunday Mega Drive" on the same station. Mbaziira Tonny owns the most influential Media Production House in Uganda known as Streamlive Avenue. ^[11]

On 11 May 2018, Mbaziira Tonny staged the first ever show of his career genre (Endongo Y'ebinyaanya) at Club Ambiance in Masaka City which was loved by his fans of Masaka and increased his fame in the industry. In May 2019, he staged his second concert from Kyaliwajjala which also sold out. In March 2022, Mbaziira Tonny together with Ssuuna Ben organized "Ebinyaanya Festival" at Masaka Recreation Grounds that pulled a mammoth crowd. ^[12] In 2023, Mbaziira Tonny organized the TMT Live Experience in Kyengera which gave him more local and international attention as a music Disc Jockey who plays with local beats called "Endongo Y'ebinyaanya". ^{[13] [14]} On 16 July 2023, Mbaziira Tonny organized Ebinyaanya festival with his long time collaborator Ssuuna Ben in Nyendo- Masaka District and it was a success. ^[15] On May 11, 2024, he organized the latest concert of his career, titled "Endongo Yebinyaaya Weewaawo, ^[16]" at Kyengera Summit Ground ^{[17] [18]}, which sold out. It is ranked among the biggest music events Uganda has ever had. ^[19]
