Madeleine Martha Walsh (born January 7 1983), professionally known as Maddy Walsh, is an American musician and singer-songwriter. Maddy is the co-founder, co-songwriter, and lead singer of her core music project, Maddy Walsh & the Blind Spots (MW&TBS;) formerly known as The Blind Spots. When not on tour, Walsh lives in Ithaca, New York with her guitar-playing husband, bandmate, co-writer, and fellow MW&TBS co-founder, Mike Suave. [1] She released a solo record Humanmade Thing (2021).
Maddy Walsh was born in Ithaca, New York, on January 7, 1983, to Margaret "Maggie" Dudley Walsh and fellow musician and singer-songwriter Edmund "Ted" Anthony Walsh.[ citation needed] She has one younger brother, Gavin Walsh. Maddy graduated from Dryden High School in 2001 and then from SUNY Binghamton in 2005 with a bachelor's degree in English and Creative Writing (poetry and nonfiction.) In 2007, Walsh earned her Master’s degree in English and Creative Writing from California State University Sacramento. [2] She recorded her first solo album, Patchwork, in Sacramento in 2007. [3]
In 2008, Maddy moved back to New York from Sacramento and was introduced to Mike Suave, a local musician familiar with the industry. Maddy and Suave began songwriting together, and co-founded The Blind Spots shortly afterwards. The 5-piece band includes a permanent lineup of guitar, bass, keyboard, drums, and vocals. [3] In 2014, Maddy and Suave were married.[ citation needed]
Maddy has released four pop-rock studio albums with Maddy Walsh & The Blind Spots, most recently "Talk" on December 21, 2018. [4] In addition, she has released one solo folk record (Patchwork, 2007), one synth-pop record with her father, Ted Walsh, under the name Madd Daddy (That Good Life, 2018), one solo meditative indie record with her partner Mike Suave (The Tunnel Sessions, 2021),and one solo adult indie contemporary record (Humanmade Thing, 2022). [5]
