American rock band the Linda Lindas have recorded songs for one studio album, two extended plays (EPs), multiple singles, and other album appearances. The band formed in Los Angeles in 2018, and consists of guitarist Lucia de la Garza, drummer Mila de la Garza, guitarist Bela Salazar and bassist Eloise Wong. The Linda Lindas have recorded 17 songs for album or EP releases, 7 songs as singles, and 5 songs outside albums, [a] totaling 29 songs. Among the 29 songs, 7 of them are covers, and most were produced by Carlos de la Garza, the father of band members Lucia and Mila.
Each member of the Linda Lindas contributes to songwriting, aside from cover songs. [1] The band started out as a cover band, playing music from multiple bands such as Le Tigre and the Go-Go's, whose " Tonite" they later covered. [2] [3] Other artists the band has covered includes Bikini Kill (" Rebel Girl") and the Muffs ("Big Mouth"). The Linda Lindas, named after the Blue Hearts' song " Linda Linda", [4] later covered the song. [5] [6] Cover songs were included on two releases: Moxie (Music from the Netflix Film) [4] and the bonus edition of Growing Up, [6] as well as on other appearances.
The Linda Lindas released their debut single, "Claudia Kishi", independently in 2020, [7] followed by the EP The Linda Lindas. [8] In 2021, the band went viral with a performance of " Racist, Sexist Boy" and subsequently signed with the Los Angeles-based label Epitaph Records. [9] They released another EP, Moxie (Music from the Netflix Film), [10] which contains music that appeared in the Netflix film Moxie. [4] The Linda Lindas released their debut album, entitled Growing Up, in 2022. Four singles were released from the album: " Oh!", "Nino", "Growing Up", and "Talking to Myself".
