Lily Jin Morrow (Korean: 릴리진모로우; October 17, 2002), known mononymously as Lily, [1] is a Korean-Australian singer, actress and member of the South Korean girl group Nmixx. After finishing in fourth place on SBS's Kpop-Star 4, she signed with JYP Entertainment in 2015.
Lily was born on October 17, 2002 in Victoria, Australia to a Korean mother and an Australian father. She was raised in Marysville, Victoria. In 2009, Lily and her family were impacted by the Black Saturday bushfires [2] resulting in her family to moving to South Korea where she attended elementary school for a period of time. [3] According to Lily and her family, she lost teachers and friends due to the bushfires which caused her to become traumatised and depressed. In order to deal with her trauma, she gained an interest in singing, dancing and modelling which is what lead her to performing. [4] [5]
Lily and her family had the opportunity to have their own episode on MBC's 'We are Korean (우리는 한국인입니다)' [6][ circular reference] which showcased her life after moving to South Korea. The family eventually returned to Australia.
In 2014, she wrote and released her own digital songs, "Find it", "Out of This World" and "Trampoline". [7] [8] In the same year, she was cast as one of the leading roles in the film, The Weatherman's Umbrella. [9] She also took part in creating a song by the same name. [10]
In 2022, Lily graduated from Doonchon High School. [11]
In 2014, whilst filming for The Weatherman's Umbrella, Lily travelled to South Korea to audition for Kpop-Star 4 in the hope of succeeding in her mother's country. She auditioned with If I Ain't Got You and passed. [12] She made it to the Top 10 and finished in fourth place. [13]
In 2015, it was announced that she had signed with JYP Entertainment. [14]
In the same year she recorded for the digital single 'I Know' and 'Shiny Day' with Cho Seung-Hyun of JACE as apart of the Orange Marmalade OST. [15] [16]
In July of 2021, It was revealed that JYP Entertainment would be debuting a new girl group after the debut of Itzy in 2019. From July 16 to July 25, Pre-orders were made for the group's debut album, titled as Blind Package, with the slogans "Your Next Favorite Girl Group" and "GRAB YOUR FUTURE" being used. [17] [18] From August 6 to November 19, each member was revealed through a variation of videos such as song covers and dance covers. Lily was revealed as the last member of the group through a video posted of her covering Finesse on the group's official YouTube channel. [19] [20] On January 26, 2022, JYP Entertainment announced the official group's name to be Nmixx. [21] [22] They debuted February 22, 2022 with the release of Ad Mare. [23]
In September, 2022, NMIXX were chosen as Global Ambassadors for LOEWE [24]
On February 16, 2023, Lily and her fellow Nmixx member, Sullyoon, released the single 'The Moment (너를 만난 순간)' as apart of the Love to Hate You OST. [25]
