Lawson Screen and Digital Products is an American screen printing company headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri founded in 1949. It manufactures and distributes screen printing equipment to the United States. It is recognized as being the oldest screen printing machine manufacturer in the United States. [1]
Eugene Landesman was an inventor that was comissioned by his friend who was looking to automate the screen printing process. The design of automated screen printing machines was something that Gene's friend had struggled with and wanted him to create something more user friendly. That same year, Gene delivered his first screen printing press. [2]
Gene's friend asked for more automatic presses and this surge in popularity encouraged Gene to exhibit at the first national screen printing convention put on by the Specialty Graphics Imaging Association (SGIA), now called Printing United. [3] Here the presses further grew in demand due to their affordability, efficiency, and ease of operation.
Landesman continued to manufacture products necessary to the craft while growing his family and in 1970, Gene sold the company to his two sons, David and Ben Landesman. [4] In 2016 Ben retired and handed his Co-Presidency down to his son Taylor Landesman while remaining on as Co-President Emertus.
Since it's inception, Lawson has served the United States for over 70 years. [5]
