Born in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam Province, Nack Hoi Kim is the eldest of three sons and two daughters. He graduated from Seongnam High School in Seoul and obtained a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Sogang University, and a master's degree in Media and Information from Hanyang University. In 1976, he began his career in advertising upon joining Cheil Worldwide.
In 2007, he assumed the role of CEO and Chairman at Cheil Worldwide. [2] Aside from two assignments to the public relations team of the Samsung Group Chairman's office, he consistently pursued a career in advertising throughout his tenure at Cheil. Starting as a rookie employee, his rise to the position of CEO is unprecedented in Cheil's history. Until the end of his tenure as CEO in 2012, he focused on enhancing creative quality and strengthening solution capabilities, with a particular emphasis on Cheil's globalization efforts. Such efforts can be exemplified by his leadership in finalizing mergers and acquisitions with advertising agencies such as McKiney and The Barbarian Group in the United States, BMB in the United Kingdom, and Pungtai in China.
He served as a member of the National Brand Committee of South Korea, the President of the Korea Association of Advertising Agencies, and as an adjunct professor of Art & Technology at Sogang University, contributing significantly to the advancement of the advertising industry. For his contributions, he was honored with the CNBC Asia Business Leader Award in 2008 and Republic of Korea Bronze Tower Industrial Medal in 2012. He also gained substantial recognition on the global stage, becoming the first from South Korea to win the Grand Prix at the Cannes Advertising Festival, as well as receiving numerous prestigious creative awards worldwide. In 2007, he was listed in "Who's Who in Asia."
He has authored three original books, including "Advertising Kingdom Japan” and "What to Discard and What to Preserve," and has translated three works, such as "Word-of-Mouth Marketing."
