John C. N. Bankett was a newspaper editor, columnist and politician in Indiana. He edited the Indianapolis World. [1]

In 1924 he was the first African American to be nominated by the Democrat Party for a seat in the Indiana General Assembly. [2] [3] The Indianapolis Recorder published his photo in 1937. [4] In 1938 he wrote an article titled "The European Situation". [5] In 1958 he was a congressional candidate. [6]
