"In the Dark" is a song by Canadian singer-songwriter Brandon Bizior. It was released on March 30, 2016, as the lead single from his debut EP, Addicted, via Castlehill Records. An EP titled the same name was released digitally on May 12, 2017.
"In the Dark" was written by Brandon Bizior and John Stary. The song was inspired by love, [1] and tells a story about the importance of channeling true emotions and feelings in a loving relationship. [2] Bizior had been working with producers from Toronto and Los Angeles to create the song. [1] The track has been described as pop and R&B. [3]
In support of the single's release, Bizior embarked on an artist's radio tour across Canada, promoting and performing his single acoustically around the country. [2] The song was selected as the winner for Newcap Radio's New Trending Tracks Emerging Artist program, and was given a month long campaign during which was rewarded a minimum of 30 spins per month. [3] Newcap's Vice President Steve Jones noted how the song captured a radio-friendly sound and recalled, "I can't tell you how good 'In The Dark' sounds on the radio." [3]
"In the Dark" was met with positive reviews. [4] Kerry Doole of FYI Music News stated, "'In The Dark' pairs ethereal vocals with strong production and a gently insinuating hook, making it a very radio-friendly proposition." [3]
