Imran Tareen ( Urdu: عمران ترین) is a Pakistani actor and compere of Urdu and Pashto Language. Using the classic method acting a technique that was influenced by the seniors has been adopted. Skilled in performing in all genres, including comedy, action, tragedy, drama and romance. An entrepreneur, compere, voice-over artist and host for numerous national and international notable live shows, as well as a screenwriter. [1] [2]
Imran Akhtar Tareen known professionally as Imran Tareen born on 21 December 1978 to an ethnic Pashtun Muslim Tareen family of Late Malak Akhtar Muhammad Tareen who was a tribal chief Malak of his village Malikyar Pishin, Quetta, Balochistan, Pakistan. Attended his Primary school from Makran Division's Tehsil Tump, Junior high school from Las Bela and Dureji, Middle school from Tameer-I-Nau Public School and F.G. Public High School, Matriculation from Islamia High School, Quetta, then F.Sc from Tameer-i-Nau Public College, Quetta and later completed his master's degree in International relations (IR) and Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from University of Balochistan, Quetta, and also received master's diploma in Photography from Balochistan Arts Council, Quetta. [3]
At first his paternal grandfather Malak Akhtar Muhammad Tareen was his sole source of encouragement and support in pursuing a career in show business. During his time as a deputy secretary of the Home Department in Lahore, he greatly admired Hollywood classic cinema. [4]
Started his Showbiz career in 1996 from Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation a famous radio voice of Radio Pakistan, Quetta as drama artist and compere, later on he joined FM 101 (music) Quetta in 2002 a commercial FM radio station owned by Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation as radio jockey and radio DJ. His Baritone voice used for narration and background commentary of film, drama, commercials and documentaries.
He was hired by Sachal/Hot FM 105 in Quetta as a station and program manager. Then, he moved on to Chiltan FM 88 in Quetta as a station and program manager. [5]
Television debut in 1997 from Urdu drama serial Wapsi produced by Pakistan Television Corporation, Quetta center. [6] But his first drama serial was Ashir Azeem's Mahafiz, for which he was properly auditioned in 1996. Unfortunately, due to some technical reasons, the serial didn't release. His Theater debut was The Liberalism, the first English stage play presented in 2003 in Quetta, written by Naseem Achakzai. [7]
In 2014, he made his Film debut in Abdullah: The Final Witness, a movie that was both commercially successful and critically acclaimed, based on real events as ASP Ali, he played the protagonist role. [8] Film Abdullah: The Final Witness was the only feature-length film selected in 2015 for screening at the prestigious Festival de Cannes the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival from Pakistan. [9] He began to achieve success at the box office once again as an infiltrator, based on true events Revenge of the Worthless playing antagonist turned protagonist as Janan Khan. [10] Habib Paracha, a producer based in Hollywood and co-producer of 2016's crime drama film The Trust, 2018's neo-noir thriller film Terminal, and 2020's action thriller film Hard Kill, offered him in 2023 to play Jamal, the antagonist in his upcoming film Barrier: The Movie. As compere, host and writer did more than 100 national and international various Live prestigious events and shows e.g. Youm-e-Shuhada, [12] FC Balochistan All Pakistan Ramzan T20 Cricket, [13] [14] 23rd March, 14th August and 25th December's Quaid-e-Azam Residency shows, with invited dignitaries including Commander Southern Command and XII Corps (Pakistan), Inspectors-General Frontier Corps Balochistan, Governor of Balochistan, Pakistan, Senators of Senate of Pakistan, Ministers of Cabinet of Pakistan, Chief Minister of Balochistan. President Pervez Musharraf's 2002 Pakistani referendum show, [15] [16] also the famous travel show of PTV Home Food and Travel of Pakistan focusing Makran Division i.e. Gwadar, Panjgur, Pasni and Turbat Kech. [17]
Imran Tareen who has been passionate about Filmmaking since childhood, earned the top spot in the Film Making workshop course, under American Film Showcase (AFS) on The Art of Cinematic Storytelling by USC School of Cinematic Arts a program of U.S. Embassy State Department supporting partners International Documentary Association (IDA) and Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts at Islamabad and Karachi, the teachers were Academy Award winner director Ted Braun and Emmy Award winner Marilyn Agrelo. [18] [19] [20] [21] [22] In 2018, he was honored to attend the first-ever three-day National Artist Convention at PNCA i.e. Pakistan National Council of Arts to brainstorm and propose solutions to revive the Pakistani Film and Film Industry of Pakistan, along with many other Pakistani showbiz notables from film and television.
