Henry Fernando Oporto Castro (born June 11, 1953) is a Bolivian politician, businessman, writer and sociologist who served as Vice Minister of Planning and Territorial Ordering of the Republic of Bolivia in the government of Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada. Stood out by his work in the fight against the dictatorship in the decade of 1970 and back restoration of the democracy in 1982.
He studied sociology in the Higher University of San Andrés in La Paz. In his first years in politic was president of the University Federation. It took part actively in the fight against the dictatorship in the decade of 1970 and back recover of the Bolivian democracy in 1982 [1]. During a lot of years lived in the exile because of the oppression of the dictatorship against his democratic and liberty ideals.
In the public service was served of Head of State Affairs of the Vice Presidency during the first government of Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada. [2] Later appointed Vice Minister of Planning and Territorial Ordering [3] [4] [5] in the second mandate of Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada [6]. Recently like Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Productive Development and Plural Economy in 2020 in the interim government of Jeanine Áñez. [7]
It was director of the National Program of Governance. Researcher of the Foundation Vicente Pazos Kanki. He also joined in the business world.
In the present is director and explorer of the Foundation Millenium. Also, it works permanently in his own projects of economy and political.
