Golden Axe is an upcoming American adult animated sitcom created by Mike McMahan and Joe Chandler that is set to premiere on Comedy Central. It is based on the video game series of the same name, which was developed and published by Sega. [1] [2]

Golden Axe will feature the voices of Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre and Carl Tart as the show's main characters. The series is being produced by CBS Eye Animation Productions, an animation arm of CBS Studios, Sony Pictures Television, Original Film, Sega Sammy Group and Important Science, with Titmouse, Inc. handling the show's animation. 10 episodes of the series were officially confirmed.

Premise

This is a "hilarious animated comedy adventure", which is adopted from the 1989 arcade game of the same name. The series follows a trio of warriors: Ax Battler, Tyris Flare and Gilius Thunderhead. They once again battle to save Yuria from an evil giant known as Death Adder, who does not seem to be dead. The warriors are excitement to rescue the inexperienced and underprepared Hampton Squib on his side.

On April 17, 2024, it was announced that Comedy Central have given the production a 10-episode series order to an animated series take of the beloved video game series which was published by Sega. [3] [4] [5] The series is created by Star Trek: Lower Decks creator Mike McMahan, who also co-created with Joe Chandler. McMahan and Chandler will co-write the first episode and serve as executive producers, with Chandler serving as a showrunner. Chris Prynoski, Shannon Prynoski, Antonio Canobbio and Ben Kalina serves as the executive producers of the series, where as Haruki Satomi. Shuji Utsumi, Toru Nakahara, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty and Toby Ascher are on board as well. [6] The series comes from CBS Eye Animation Productions, an animation arm of CBS Studios, Sony Pictures Television and Original Film.

Casting

Following the announcement of the series, Matthew Rhys, Danny Pudi, Lisa Gilroy, Liam McIntyre and Carl Tart have been cast as the main characters.
